Code of Conduct & Community Agreements
Let’s keep SRF safe, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.

To keep SRF a safer and welcoming space for everyone, we ask all participants to follow our Code of Conduct and Community Agreements.
If you are subjected to or witness unacceptable behavior, please report this using the form and guidance on this page.
Code of conduct (abridged)
Read the full Code of Conduct here.
The Code of Conduct for in-person and virtual events organized by Americans United (AU) is intended to protect individuals from all forms of harassment and discriminatory behavior. All participants in AU events are expected to be respectful and inclusive in their language and behavior, to engage with an open mind, and to refrain from any behavior that constitutes harassment or discrimination — including but not limited to bullying, insults, unwelcome physical contact, or unfair treatment based on personal characteristics.
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please contact a SRF staff member, an AU employee, or security, or complete the incident report form (Note: this link will be live at the start of SRF 2026).
Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behavior are expected to comply immediately. AU reserves the right to take appropriate action, including issuing warnings or removing participants from the event without refund, to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
Community agreements
At SRF, everyone has a role in creating inclusive, positive, and safer spaces where all feel welcome to share their stories and participate fully.
Make spaces accessible
Speak slowly and clearly, use microphones when available, and be mindful of seating and pathways for others. Limit scented products when possible.
Avoid jargon
If you use acronyms or policy and legal terms (like “RFRA” or “SCOTUS”), take a moment to explain them.
Respect pronouns and identities
Check name tags or ask for pronouns — never assume based on how someone looks or speaks.
Prevent and report harassment
We all share responsibility for maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
We each have privileges and power - know yours.
Everyone has different privileges. Be aware of how privilege and power show up in your experiences and interactions.
Use that awareness to make space for others, amplify underrepresented voices, and listen with care.
Honor people’s stories without asking intrusive or personal questions.
Reporting Concerns
If you are subjected to or witness unacceptable behavior:
- Complete our incident report form.
- Find a SRF staff member at the Registration desk or elsewhere on site (look for SRF staff badges).
All reports are handled in accordance with AU’s Harassment & Discrimination policies and procedures.
